Pirated music is considered a problem for the music industry everywhere, but in Japan, they're trying to make it the peoples problem. Since the end of 2009, the music industry, the Japanese government, and telecoms are said to be working on a way to disable cell phones with bootlegged music on them. Since then a council has been made to devise a plan to make this possible, which is supposed to be in effect by sometime this year. In Japan it is estimated that about 400 million songs are downloaded on cell phones per year; compared to the about 330 million being legally downloaded. With the numbers of pirated materials being ahead of the legal downloads, it is obvious that the music industry had it's concern in loss of money. However there is one major fault to this plan. The cell phone manufacturers have not yet even signed on or agreed with this plan, nor would it be easy to force them to. People will always be able to get bootlegged music and movies no matter what restrictions are put. There's just some things you cant stop and that shows to be one of them, especially if it were to be tried in the United States.
