“Fans can make you famous. A contract can make you rich. The press can make you a superstar. But only love can make you a player.” That is what is flashed in front of a brick wall at the beginning of the new Madonna video, Give me all your Lovin’. What it means, we are not sure. Though it ties directly to the lead singer, with the football theme of the video, as well as her upcoming superbowl performance, we are thinking it might be a football metaphor as well. Either way, it is vague and narcissistic and everything we know and love about Madonna. And while the song clearly lacks the catchiness of her older music, it is still a decent, egocentric walk down a lane we sometimes cannot help but miss. Madonna lane. But a trip down that lane does get old pretty quick. You know what else got old? Madonna, but we think everyone around her is too afraid to tell her. Good thing we aren’t.

We are all sort of still sitting on the fence about this video right now. Truth is, this could have easily been a four star effort from Weezy. But the fact of the matter is, the last ten seconds of this video kick the viewer right in the face with such an over the top metaphor, at this point, he is lucky this didn’t get one star.

Do guys remember a few days ago when we reviewed the Tech N9ne song: Am I A Psycho and we said that Hip Hip and horror go really well together? Ok, well, we officially cannot say that about this rave rap duo Die Antwoord and their new music video for “I Fink U Freeky.” Yes, that is really what the song is called and that is not the result of one of our drunken staff writers. Well, it could be a mix of both. Either way, this song is an assault on the ears and the video is an assault on the eyes. Remember how grimy the Christina Aguilera video made you feel after you watched it? Yes, this is like that, only much, MUCH filthier. Half the staff here are now taking their lunch breaks to go home and shower the filth this video feels like it leaves on your skin after you watch it.

Every now and then, a video and song come through our office that is so unvelievably perfect, we all gather around our boss’ monitor in silent awe. We came close to it a week ago with Avicii Levels, but it just missed the mark. Then we came close to it again with the Butch Walker video for Synthesizer, but that one fell a centimeter short as well. The “Lonely Boy” video from the upcoming new Black Keys album entitled Camino doesn’t fall short. It hits the bulls eye. It hits it so hard it just might redefine the term bulls eye.

I know, we are as shocked as you are. This very well may be a sign of the impending apocalypse. We here at Somanymp3s have begun boarding up the windows and doling out rations. Two of our staff are currently engaged in the “feats of strength”, and we are pretty sure one of our female interns just turned feral. All of this because Miley Cyrus covered a Bob Dylan song, and actually didn’t play up any Pop aspects of it, or shove her sex in our face. And the thing actually ended up good, somehow. We are scared. Very, very scared.

Bruno Mars must have been a fan of America’s Next Best Dance Crew, because the dance group ‘The Poreotix’ are featured predominantly in his new music video. And the music video is simple in execution, but there lies its genius. It is an incredibly catchy pop song about how Bruno doesn’t want to do anything today, and we have definitely all had those days. But I bet none of us have had those days with a crew of dancers in cheap monkey masks and five dollar glasses, dancing slick, choreographed numbers with you around your bedroom while you croon into a camera. It sounds like it could be dumb, yet ends up being a far more awesome music video than you would think it should be.

I swear to God, Disney has to have a machine that makes near-perfect-pop-stars. Some kind of mechanism that spits these kids out by the half dozen every year. The problem is, they almost seem like carbon copies of each other. Like the same five pop songs just get recycled and repackaged every few years in brand new, teen-pop-star packages. For a while, it worked. And people consumed it en masse’. Now it has become like that blueberry muffin you used to enjoy, but ate one too many times. Now it just kind of tastes boring.

We want to write something profound about this music video. We want to share the exact experience we had while viewing it and listening to it. The thing is, we really can’t. We cannot seem to put it into words. It really was that magical.

The video for “First of the Year” by Skrillex is an oddly disturbing, but provocative and exciting video. It starts off being incredibly tense, but quickly changes course and makes the viewer anxious to see the culmination of what might just happen.
