The Muppets have enlisted the most innovative band working today — at least when it comes to making viral music videos — to rewrite their theme song for their album and eventual film release. That band is OK Go, and they combined their efforts with the Jim Henson Company to create a truly wonderful and funny music video for “The…
A big entrance into the rap game is almost just as important as the quality of the rapper’s rhymes. The “street-cred” a rapper receives before they are introduced to a mainstream audience is vital. Snoop Dogg was a legitimate gangsta and drug dealer before being featured on Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. 50 Cent had been shot and taken nine bullets…
Lady Gaga’s last video for the song “Edge of Glory” was incredibly underwhelming, as we stated in our review. This was in part because the song is so damn good. The expectation level for a Lady Gaga video was astronomical, especially for her best songs. It was something hard to swallow for all the “Lil’ Monsters” out there because it was the first time she really failed to exceed those high expectations.

The reviews are in for the highly anticipated “Watch the Throne” album, which was released last week. Most media outlets welcomed the collaboration between Kanye West and Jay-Z with open arms, and proceeded to write glowing reviews of how no other supergroup has compared to these two heavyweights of rap. Others couldn’t wait to trash the rappers by writing that…

The term “Supergroup” has been used a number of times throughout the past few decades of popular music. The term was coined to describe a rock group whose performers were already famous from having performed individually or in other groups. Some of the most famous supergroups of all time include Cream, Damned Yankees, The Highwaymen, and Velvet Revolver. The problem with the formation of a supergroup is that they are never as good as the thing the individual members got noticed for. Most of them are formed after the break-up of a very successful group as a cheap replacement for the real thing. Fans might expect to hear something similar, but they usually are disappointed.

The anticipation for the release of “Watch the Throne,” the Jay-Z and Kanye West collaboration has been quite something. Sure, the two have combined for a number of songs in the past, but the idea of an entire album featuring two of the greatest rappers of all time is something completely new. And, their first video for the song “Otis”…

The best pop music doesn’t typically have much meaning. The best pop music doesn’t typically have impressive composition or awe-inspiring structure. The best pop music is simply one thing: fun. Pop music needs to be fun, simple as that. Currently, Maroon 5’s song for “Moves Like Jagger” is definitive pop music. It’s fun, it’s happy; it makes people want to dance.

Rap has always been about bragging about how much money one has, how many girls one can get, how hard one is, and how amazing one is. Typically, most rap songs feature lyricists who are in no way humble. Fast cars, hot women, stacks of cash, big guns. Because of this, they tend to be negative role models for those…

Kanye West is once again in the news for saying something dumb onstage. This is not something new — although comparing himself to Hitler is certainly a first for the egocentric rapper. According to the Associated Press, Adolf West — um, we mean Kanye West — told a crowd at the Big Chill Music Festival in England, “I walk through…

The video for Red Café’s new song “We Get It On,” which features Omarion is pretty typical for a rap video. It features hot girls in very little clothing and has rappers performing in the middle of these nearly naked video hoes looking at the camera and bragging about their nearly naked video hoes. There is a scene on a boat and a scene in a club. That’s about all that is needed in a rap video these days. Of course, the video for “We Get It On” has two things going for itself that most other rap videos of the like do not.
