Derulo sings the most quoted Bible verse ever, Psalm 23, “Though I walked through the shadow of death, I’ll feel no evil. I’ve never been afraid of another man, cause I can see through my heartbeat, his heartbeat. My only fear is that he won’t kill me, cause if he don’t, I grab my heat. More hesitate I’m stoppin’ this heartbeat.”
OK, so maybe just the beginning of Psalm 23 since the rest of the verse speaks to idea that the Lord is our shepherd, not that you should go shooting thugs.
Wiz Khalifa actually takes most of the lyrics to the song rapping, “Jealousy comes with success, you can’t escape it. Them dirty little dudes will stretch you when you’re taken.”
The combination of Khalifa’s sinister flow, Derulo’s on point singing (with just a bit of auto-tune), and gloomy backing track will not win any airplay on the radio and in the club, but could eventually show up on the soundtrack of the next Antoine Fuqua cop film.
