But just because Ke$ha offers more of the same does not mean the video and song for “Take It Off” is bad. In fact, it proves that Ke$ha will continue to churn out catchy pop music specifically made for people to get sweaty to. The lyrics are pretty much pointless, and video offers up nothing more than Ke$ha singing into the camera before turning into glitter, but the song will get radio airplay and will be played continuously at dance clubs — especially gay clubs and at drag shows.
Ke$ha told Esquire magazine, “I have a song I wrote the other night called ‘Take It Off’ about when I went to a drag show, and how really turned on I was by these transvestite men taking clothes off. I was like, ‘What does that even make me?’”

Of course, Ke$ha has Dr. Luke to thank once again for providing a hypnotic track — as he did with Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok.” Dr. Luke is also responsible for recent hits like “California Gurls” by Katy Perry and “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz..
The video starts with Ke$ha walking through the parking lot of an abandoned motel with a bunch of Warriors-like extras. Just like the 1979 movie, you expect someone to start chanting, “WARRIORS! Come out to pla-A-ay!”
Surprisingly Ke$ha is in pretty normal clothing. No face paint, no fur coats, and no feathers.
She starts singing, “There’s a place downtown / Where the freaks all come around / It’s a hole in the wall / It’s a dirty free for all / And they turn me on / When they take it off / When they take it off / Everybody take it off.”
All of a sudden the posse starts running around manically throughout the motel and into the empty swimming pool. Two members of the clan run into each other and they explode into colored powder. What? The rest of the group starts to dance hypnotically as more and more glitter and chalk powder flies off of the beautiful dancers.

Ke$ha joins in, who is now covered in face paint while wearing a gigantic white fur coat. She starts to unzip her chest, which exposes a bunch of gold glitter while simultaneously making her left arm disappear.
Ke$ha told the Phoenix News Times, “(The video is) about me and all my hot vampire babe friends breaking into a hotel on another planet, and at the end we all turn into beautiful stardust.”
Maybe Ke$ha has been snorting “beautiful stardust.” You all are supposed to be vampires? Vampires are just made out of powdered chalk and glitter? Also, it’s obviously a motel, not a hotel. You can tell because the doors are on the outside, and you need a Tetanus shot if you get into the pool. And at what point in the video does it seem like they are on another planet?
Anyway, Ke$ha went on to explain, “Once you take it all off, all your inhibitions, your clothes, we’re all made up of the same thing.”
Whatever you say Ke$ha. No need to explain it. The only thing that matters is that the song is pretty catchy and the video has some good-looking people to stare out.
