Disney has produced their fair share of controversy when it comes to sexual subliminal messages — such as the drawing of a penis included in the castle on the video cover for the Little Mermaid, or the letters S.E.X. spelled out in flowers in the Lion King — but never has there been so much sexual innuendo in music video for an official song from a Disney soundtrack.

Kerli’s new video for her release “Tea Party” seems innocent enough to the casual viewer, but also seems a little perverted to those of us with sick minds. The video looks like a mixture between Alice in Wonderland and Eyes Wide Shut.
Maybe the song, which is on the official soundtrack for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, is truly innocent, but with lyrics like
“Welcome to the Tea Party, want to be my VIP? When I all steamed up, hear me shout, tip me over and pour me out.”
“Your appetite is flex, I got the table set, don’t get your dribble on my t-t-table yet.”
“I got the goodies baked, got more than you can take, just try and nibble on my biscuits and my rainbow cake.”
“Let’s be traditional, and non-commissional. Got my elbows down, pinkies up, that’s the way you sip my cup.”

Maybe this reviewer has heard 2 Live Crew’s “Face Down Ass Up” too many times to not compare that last line to Luther Campbell rapping, “Face down, ass up, that’s the way we like to f*ck.”
Obviously the video is themed after Alice in Wonderland, which in itself has dozens of sexual and drug references. The Alice stories, along with the movies, are indeed enjoyed by both adults and children, and maybe Kerli is trying to mimic this style of storytelling.
There is nothing overtly sexual in nature about the video or the song, and children could watch it over and over again without feeling subliminally molested — even with lines like, “Futha Mucker try to show some class.” By all means young children should not be watching this video, but Kerli flirts dangerously close to inappropriateness without crossing into vulgarity.
And if this all simply a misunderstanding, Disney and Kerli can certainly tell us to get our heads out of the gutter. Something hints that they will need to get theirs out first.
