Everyone has heard of this recent $30 million lawsuit filed against Lady Gaga by her former lover/producer, Rob Fusari, and now the pop queen has struck back in court.
The Associated Press reported that this past Friday in court, Lady Gaga’s lawyer for the case, Charles Ortner, pointed out that the former agreement with Fusari was “unlawful”, and that the contract that had been made was “structured in such a way as to mask its true purpose — to provide to the defendants unlawful compensation for their services as unlicensed employment agents.” Fusari’s lawyer then fired back with a true but obvious statement, saying “It’s an age-old story in the music business. You become famous and you turn on the person who discovered you.”
Rob Fusari’s lgawsuit was based off the claims that he helped the star become who she is, and even invented her whole stage name and persona; which is what is driving him to demand 20% of Gaga’s earnings since her fame. Lady Gaga has previously added in her own words, in an interview last year, stating: “I was Gaga from the time that I was 19 through my first record deal. I always dressed like that before people knew me as Lady Gaga. I was always that way… I stuck out like a sore thumb.”
No matter who’s in the right here, both sides present a logical and understandable case, however, both sides can just be overly greedy as well. Lady Gaga does seem like the type to reject people out of spite though…especially now that she thinks she’s larger than life.
