Lloyd Banks – Bomb First (Music Video Review)

4.5The video for Lloyd Banks’ “Bomb First” matches the hard and intimidating lyrical flow that Banks has shown off on his mixtapes. Fellow G-Unit rapper 50 Cent, who pleasantly surprises viewers with his ability to put together a pretty awesome video for the track, directs the video using intercut scenes of Banks rapping with violent war images.

The mixture of Banks’ ability to lay down some serious lyrics with the extreme images of war truly combines for an enjoyable 2 minutes and 35 seconds of video. The remaining minute of video that precedes and proceeds the music is just promotional material for Banks’ upcoming summer album “Hunger For More 2” and for purchasable gear at ThisIs50Store.com.

Other than the promotional items, the video truly shows off both Banks’ ability to send a message, and 50’s ability to splice together some scenes that match the mood of Lloyd’s tight flow.

“I wish the worst on them n*ggas, wish a Hearst on them n*ggas / F*ck defendin’ mine, I’m a bomb first on them n*ggas / Send ‘em somewhere in the sky, fill a church for them n*ggas / Put a picture of his face on a shirt for his n*ggas / Mound of dirt on them n*ggas, n*ggas betta wisen up / Time is up, Everybody get a shot, line ‘em up”

The track is from Banks’ 2008 mixtape “Halloween Havoc,” making one wonder if this track will actually be his second single off the upcoming “Hunger For More 2” album after the first single — the ridiculous, but popular — “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley.”

According to an MTV News report, the success of “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley” has Interscope Records begging him to return. Although the track is popular, which is the reason Interscope wants him back, “Bomb First” truly shows off Banks’ skills. Hopefully the upcoming album release is filled with more tracks like “Bomb First” than the vain and conceited “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley.” Only time will tell.
