Mariah Carey Late for Tour Finale
Mariah Carey is a diva. I’m sure you knew that though. February 27, the last night of her tour she just made it to the arena in time to perform. The reason? She had to have a doctor examine her vocal chords to make sure she was okay to perform. On the surface, that sounds like a legitimate excuse, but why wait until just hours before your performance to get something like that check out? Wouldn’t that be something you would notice when you wake up in the morning?
She has a history of being late though. In 2005 she showed up 90 minutes late to an award ceremony because of a broken finger nail. In January of 2010 she showed up 1 hour 35 minutes, supposedly because of an accident, to her show at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. So it makes you wonder if she really needed to have her throat checked or if she just needed an excuse.
Carey does put on a great performance, and does have a great voice (apparently good enough to not need sound checks, or is it just full bands that require those?) but she’s not a performer for the fans. She did stay in the car once she arrived at the arena, so as to not upstage her opening act: Ciara, but do fans really wait outside for a performer to arrive once the show starts? Weird. If only her excuses were as good as her voice.
