VIBE Magazine Folds

Vibe magazine is to close down “immediately.” Recession hits hard as many advertisers no longer advertise or have gone out of business.

It’s sad to see this happen as VIBE saw significant success in the late 90′s. In February, it reduced its circulation and publishing frequency, cut salaries and moved employees to a four-day workweek to save money.

This leaves just two large-circulation music magazines that focus on hip hop and R&B, XXL and THE SOURCE. The Source is in many troubles as well.
