Pitbull, Sensato Del Patio, Black Point, Lil Jon, & El Cata – Watagatapitusberry (Music Video Review)

watagatapitusberry

“What?” “¿Que?” “Berry” Those are the only three discernable words in the song “Watagatapitusberry” performed by Sensato Del Patio & Black Point featuring Pitbull, Lil Jon and El Cata.

Understandably, the song is confusing to the English speaker due to it being rapped in Spanish. Surprisingly, you as a listener may not realize it’s in Spanish until two minutes in because the song disguises itself as so many other rap songs released in the past few years: fast rhyming with made up words.

The song is a remix of Black Point’s original recording, but only through research was this evident. Since so many “artists” are featured on the track, the listener never can really tell who wrote the song. At one point in the video you may wonder why Nelly was uncredited. It’s not Nelly. It’s Black Point. You can tell the difference because he is not wearing a Band-Aid.

And Note, “artist” was in quotes in that last paragraph because the song includes Lil Jon, whose greatest contribution to popular culture is yelling the word “What.” He mixes it up in “Watagatapitusberry” by also yelling “Que.” The addition of Lil Jon to this track proves the rappers are poking fun at themselves, since this is exactly what the listener must be saying.

After thorough research, the meaning for “Watagatapitusberry” is being argued throughout the online message boards — in both Spanish and English. Well, at least it looked like arguing in Spanish. This reviewer fell asleep in High School Spanish class and is now regretting it.

Some say the word is just made up Dominican slang, and is used to make fun of people who combine Spanish and English while speaking. Some think it has a more vulgar meaning. UrbanDictionary.com breaks the word up into four separate words, which Sensato Del Patio explains to Lil Jon in the video using a chalkboard — which may be the first time Lil Jon has ever been near school supplies.

Wata = hits. Gata = girls. Pitus = for your. Berry = vagina.

Put them together: “Hits girl, for your vagina.” Makes perfect sense.

So maybe the Internet does not have the answers to everything. If the Internet had been invented back in 1991 when Naughty By Nature’s hit “O.P.P.” was released we would have seen similar confusion about that last “P”— which was explained to be “not that simple.”

But without the Internet this video would have never been released. And although the video, and song, does not make much sense the video itself is pretty upbeat and fun. It’s almost like a Latino Men in Black. And let’s be honest, if Men in Black was released in 2010, Lil Jon would probably have been in the movie as one of the aliens hiding on Earth. That would explain a lot.

  5. Your first definition of the word is correct. It's just a word made up by BlackPoint and Sensato themselves (BlackPoint explains himself that the word has no real meaning, they simply made it up). Now, people on the internet often spread false rumors and of course, there are a lot of gullible people out there who will believe anything they hear, lol. Here is are 2 Youtube videos of BlackPoint jokingly explaining the meaning of the word "watagatapitusberry" (in Spanish, but one of the videos has a translation of what he stated in English): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE85iaXlWMU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SQ2hU_j0Bw

  6. I'm afraid that the Pit bull desires a specific kind of proprietor...these dogs, no matter how 'tender' still have teeth, are still animals with no moral ideas and if they DO bite, won't let go. As in all animals...some have a tendency to be more suseptable to instinctual habits and time and time again, this breed tends to accomplish just that.
