To state that the video for the Young Money collaboration release of “Roger That” was inspired by the Frank Miller comic books-turned films like Sin City and The Spirit is an understatement. The style, including pop-up lyrics written in comic word bubbles, is exactly like the black, white, and red art of the very dark and gritty graphic novels minus the extreme violence.

For those viewers who loved the style of these films, and love rappers on the Young Money label, you will love this video. It’s dark and gritty just like the films, and the song features Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Tyga — and all three do their best Sin City-like character impressions. Nicki Minaj is smokin’ hot and wearing little clothing, Tyga is tattooed and intimating — especially when wearing nothing but a World War II-era gas mask — and Weezy is just simply looking badass.
One of the nearly 30 videos filmed before Wayne was sent to prison for one year on weapon’s possession, the video is completely shot on green screen. All of the artwork and backgrounds were done in postproduction, making one wonder what other technological advancements Wayne took advantage of to complete his marathon video shoots.
The song is not about a message, it’s mostly just flow — and the video edits out a lot of vulgarities. During Tyga’s section, you may think that you accidentally hit mute because there are about three lines in a row completely blanked out. Sadly, this tears apart the flow of the lyrics, but is understandable as Minaj raps, “Come on n***a, is you trickin’ what? Flow tighter than a d**k in the butt.”
Vulgarities aside, the video shows off the lyrical skills the rappers of the Young Money label have, and fans should be looking forward to what other videos Weezy has up his sleeve while he is away in prison where he is most likely working on his flow and trying to keep things out of his butt.
